FINISHING THE TASK REGIONAL CONFERENCE REPORT

Good News! We just finished the first regional “Finishing The Task” conference at Coast Hills Community Church in Aliso Viejo, CA. God was so good! We had 22 churches in attendance; 13 of them made commitments and they are asking God to let them begin the work in 46 new Unengaged, Unreached People Groups. This has been an absolutely wonderful response beyond our hopes and expectations. We had representation from Dallas, Houston, Charlotte, Phoenix and Northern California, in addition to our local churches. Three laymen pledged the funds to underwrite 14 of the groups for their local churches. The Koreans in attendance committed to 10 groups through Korean churches in the U.S. And, we still have not heard from a number of other churches that attended the conference part-time.

Avery Willis, Roy Peterson and Bob Horner all did a great job. The music and worship were phenomenal. And our guest speakers from India and Sudan both did a good job for us. Two of the four Champions in host church, Coast Hills, have volunteered to travel to other areas to challenge pastors and laymen to get involved. In addition to the commitments for the groups, Calvary Chapel-Santa Barbara pledged to hold a conference for Calvary Chapels in mid-California and Calvary Community, Westlake Village, CA, committed to hold one in their area.

Only God knows what the long-term result will be of this conference. Most of those in attendance were not senior pastors, so there will be much negotiation and approvals that will have to be secured in the days ahead. However, we sensed the presence of God and we are grateful for your prayers for the event. The next regional conference in the U.S. will be held April 19-21 near Oklahoma City at Oklahoma Baptist University.

God is good!
